Sarah Geronimo
Sarah Asher Tuazon Geronimo is the famous Filipino pop singer, actress and model. She is known as Sarah Geronimo. She won the grand prize of Philippine reality show, Star for a Night.
Sarah was born on July 25, 1988 and grew up in Santa Cruz, Manila
Philippines. She was the third sibling of Delfin Geronimo and Divina
Tua- Geronimo.
Sarah’s passion for music is natural from birth. During her childhood days, she started participating programs and joining singing competitions. She was one of the casts of Pen Pen de Sarapen, a kiddie show. She enjoyed participating several programs such as For Kids Only, Hiray Manawari and Ang TV where she’s part of the first batch of stars. Her father enrolled her to “Center for Pop Music, Philippines” at six years old to focus on development of Sarah’s talent. He even encouraged her to practice at least two hours at home everyday.
On 2003, Sarah made it to top 10 finalist of IBC Channel 13, Star For a Night at an early age of fourteen with Regine Velasquez, Asian Songbird as the host. Her presentation of Celine Dion’s ”To Love You More” made her the “Grand Winner”. One Million Pesos and a 10-year recording contract of Viva Records were one of her prizes.
In September of the same year, Sarah released her debut album. Popstar: A Dream Come True under VIVA Records. The album reached to 6x platinum, selling more than 180, 000 copies. Forever’s Not Enough and Sa Iyo were produced from the said album. Her concert at Music Museum was highly successful.
After the competition, she became visible in several shows of GMA Network until contracted for several programs of ABS-CBN which become her studio until this very moment. She was not only focusing on singing but also participating also in acting. She was seen for films like Filipinas, Captain Barbell and Annie B. in supporting roles. ABS-CBN polished her acting skills by starring her in the teen drama named Sarah, The Teen Princess. She made her permanent stay in Sunday’s noontime show of ABS-CBN, A.S.A.P. Her endorsement from “Jollibee”, “Charmee” etc. earned her a multi-million peso.
On November of 2004, Sarah released again her second album under the label of VIVA Records entitled Sweet Sixteen. The album reached double platinum selling more than 60, 000 copies. How Could You Say You Love Me was released as the first single. Its video features Mark Bautista, her co-Champion. Other singles were Lumingon Ka Lang, Hanggang Kailan, Love Can’t Lie and What To Know What Love Is. “Charmee” Theme Song and Bulletin Song are also included in the said album. Together with other champions Rachelle Ann Go and Erik Santos, Sarah staged the Night of the Champions concert in Araneta Coliseum.
She was the leading lady of Mark Bautista in the fantasy film, Lastikman. She also became a mainstay of SCQ Reload, Kilig Ko, as Hero Angeles’ love pair. Can This Be Love, theme song of Hero Angeles and Sandara Park’s movie of the same title was sung by Sarah herself and reached gold status in one month.
For two months in mid 2005, Sarah reunited with other champions in “Tour of Pinoy Idols: Return of the Champions” in United States. She performed her first major solo concert at Araneta Coliseum entitled The Other Side. A live album of the filmed tour was released by Viva Records named The Other Side: Live Album.
Her third solo album was released on August 2006 named Becoming. It reached to Gold status in one week and ended Platinum in one month. I Still Believe In Loving You, Carry My Love and Iingatan Ko Ang Pag-ibig Mo were the singles released from the album. This year also was highlighted by her role as the lead star of ABS-CBN’s Bituing Walang Ningning. She released the soundtrack of the film and achieved gold status. On November 18, 2006, she was chosen by Pacman to sing the Philippine National Anthem, Lupang Hinirang on his third super featherweight fight with Erik Morales in Las Vegas.
On 2007, she hosted Little Big Star, reality show program for aspiring child performer. Reach For The Sky was released together with Makisig Morales in the soundtrack of Little Big Star. Together with Maja Salvador and Rica Paralejo, she had her lead role with Jericho Rosales in Pangarap Na Bituin. She held her second solo concert on July 14, 2007 at Araneta Coliseum entitled Sarah Geronimo In Motion. Shortly after her concert, she released her fourth album entitled Taking Flight, achieving Gold status in short time. Singles I’ll Be Alright and Ikaw were released from the album and have their respective positions in radio charts.
Sarah is going to release a DVD of her In Motion Tour in early 2008.
