Gloc-9

Picture
Aristotle “Aries” Pollisco is a popular hip hop singer/ rapper. He is best known as “Gloc-9” in music industry. His compositions, his songs, his hits and his achievements made him on of the most successful artist in the Philippines. He considered Francis M. his first and primary influence who named Gloc-9 as “a blacksmith of words and letter, a true Filipino poet”.

Ronald Solanga of Death Threat named him Gloc-9. He is dubbed as the fastest rapper and one of the finest rapper in the country. . He can easily rap 200 words per minute, so fast yet still very clear. For him, rap is an expression of both his thoughts and emotions.

He released his debut album entitled Gloc-9 under Star Records. The album was released on 2003 containing hit singles like “Hinahanap Ng Puso”, “Isang Araw”, “Sayang”, “Simpleng Tao”, “Bakit”, “Jolog”, “Sikat Na Si Pepe” and many more. On 2002 Himig Handog Love Songs Competition, he performed duet with Cookie Chua. All the songs from the album were either written or co-written by Gloc-9, arranged and produced by the artist himself.

He spawned the famous song “Banal Na Aso” which was used as theme song of Nginiiiig, ABS-CBN’s TV series. He also contributed soundtracks of several movies such as Jologs and Trip. He is a simple person. An award for him is such a great honor, which he cannot deny that his already making a niche in the music industry.

On 2005, he released his second album under Star Records entitled Ako Si...Gloc-9. His singles include “Ipagpatawad Mo”, “Love Story Ko” and “Liwanag”.

He signed with a new label Sony BMG Records and released his third album entitled Diploma. It spawned hit singles like “Lando”, “Torperdo” and “Sumayaw Ka”. He considered two things why he called his album Diploma: one is stated in the song and the other is for going back to school to finish college. He may not achieve a college degree yet but he already possessed something for him to be successful. As the matter of fact, he is a current second year student of Nursing.

His Diploma marked a 360 degree turn in song writing of Gloc-9. His lyrics were real and brought positive influence to his audience. He got his motivation from a good song, a good film, a person or even his personal experiences.

His song, “Lando” reflecting the harsh society of the country. He animated the life of a taong-grasa. He considered the song a blessing for two reasons; the first seemed somebody dictated the song finishing it within three and a half hour while the second is the rare collaboration of two respected names in music, Francis M and Chito Miranda of Parokya Ni Edgar. Its video was directed by Jay Pacena II. His single “Sumayaw Ka” encouraged the listeners to just dance problems away.

Other artist collaborated with him in the album. This includes Lovi Poe in “Lov Na Lov”, Czarina Rosales for “Blues Niyang Itim”, Loonie of Stick Figgas and Konflick of Death Threat for “Sila” and Mitchell for “Kayo”.
